Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese meditation, concentration and physical form, whose origins back to the Han Dynasty. The concept of Qi Gong can be translated as "steady work at the Qi".
The name of Qi Gong was first used by the Taoists Xu Xun from the Jin period.
By breathing, martial arts and physical exercises, it is to enrich and harmonize the qi (vital energy) which is to contribute towards the development of diseases, that’s why Qi Gong in the health care in China has played always a great role.
Has developed and changed over all Qi Gong by different influences from Taoism, Buddhism, martial arts and traditional Chinese medicine.
From the year 200 before Jesus Christ is the oldest surviving Chinese medicine plant " Huang Di Nei Jing so Wen " with the first body exercises to maintain health.
There are now more than 1000 different directions of Qi Gong exercises with different ranks and the common goal to maintain health rather than cure diseases.
However, only 100 Qi Gong directions from the research institute in Beijing have been recognized.
The main criteria are that at least two of four components combine to form a unit in the exercise: relaxation-rest-natural-motion-respiratory-mental idea sound.
Among the various features of the different directions of Qi Gong include, for example the outer elixir "Waidan" from Taoism to which the martial arts and movement
Taijiquan and the part and the inner elixir "Neidan" belong to which rather meditative breathing exercises and focusing inward.
In addition, there is the exercise Zhan Zhuang (standing column), which was founded in 1980 by Master Lam Kam Chuen brought to the West or the Shenjifa (path to supernatural abilities).
